The Global Student Solar Assembly 2019

50 students from our school classes V-X participated in The Global Student Solar Assembly 2019, wherein they made solar lamps at IGI stadium on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

In the mega event organized by IIT Bombay in collaboration with MNRE, thousands of students from different schools of Delhi-NCR gathered together for assembly of the lamps. Students were sensitized about the use of Solar Energy. They took the pledge for “Non-Violence towards environment” . Many Ministers were present for the event.
The event was marked by chief Guest Mr Prakash Javedkar, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Mr. R.K Singh, current Minister of State in the Government of India and Mr Praveen Garg, Additional Secretary at Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change graced the event by their presence.

Together the students set the Guinness Book of World Record by assembling and lighting their own solar lamps as part of Global Student Solar Assembly.

In essence, it was a great learning experience for both the students and the teachers as they were titled as Student Solar Ambassadors.
